Madelyn Azalde is a freshman attacker who brings intelligence and urgency to every possession. Quick off her feet and sharp in reading the game, she thrives in transition moments where speed and decision-making converge. Her strengths lie in her ability to recognize openings — whether threading a pass to a teammate or creating chaos on defense — and her competitive instinct to execute under pressure. Beyond her technical skill, Madelyn is defined by her reliability and focus. She treats practice as seriously as match play, attacking every drill with full intensity and commitment. Her teammates know they can count on her not just for effort, but for a positive, supportive presence that elevates the group.
What sets Madelyn apart is her hunger to evolve. She's driven by tangible results and the discipline required to achieve them, consistently pushing to become faster, stronger, and more tactically aware. Meridian Water Polo Club – 16U Team (2025–Present)
Current Season: Madelyn plays as an attacker for the 16U team, using her speed to contribute on counterattacks and occasionally lead sprints.
Development & Training: Through club training she has developed explosiveness, improved her ability to capitalize on opportunities, and elevated her ability to read the game at a higher level.
Leadership: Helps everyone feel included and supported in practices and games, and pushes the team to compete hard in both settings.
Lamorinda Water Polo – 14U (2023–2025)
Played two seasons developing her skill set and foundational knowledge of the game.
Diablo Water Polo – 12U (2021–2023)
Played two seasons at Diablo, where she grew her love for water polo and learned the fundamentals of the game.
Community & Activities
National Charity League
Leads the communication and coordination of community service events for her chapter.
AAUW STEM Conference — Volunteer
Helped lead an annual STEM conference aimed at keeping young girls engaged in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Miramonte Debate Club
Competes at the varsity level in league and invitational tournaments, developing her skills in argumentation and public speaking.
Junior Coach — Meadow Swim and Tennis Club
Works as a junior coach during the summer, mentoring younger swimmers in technique, confidence, and sportsmanship.
Academic Achievements
Carries a 4.14 GPA and is currently enrolled in Algebra 2/Pre-Calculus Honors.
Future Goals
Madelyn hopes to attend a strong academic university, pursue a career in STEM, and continue playing water polo at a high level.
