Barcelona Training Trip
May 31 – June 10 · Parent & Athlete Memo of Understanding
This document serves as a shared understanding between Meridian Water Polo Club, its athletes, and their families regarding participation in the Barcelona Training Trip.
Purpose of Trip
This trip is a training-first development experience. While it includes travel and cultural exposure, its primary purpose is to provide a structured, high-performance environment that supports athlete growth, team cohesion, and competitive preparation.
Acknowledgement of Club Standards
By participating in this trip, both athlete and parent/guardian acknowledge that they have reviewed and agree to uphold the Meridian Water Polo Club Parent/Athlete Code of Conduct, as outlined on the club website, as well as all applicable USA Water Polo safety and conduct policies.
These standards apply at all times throughout the trip.
Expectations During Travel
To ensure a safe, productive, and respectful environment for all participants:
- Athletes will follow all team schedules, training plans, and coach direction
- Facility rules and host guidelines will be respected at all times
- Curfews and team boundaries will be followed without exception
- Athletes are expected to represent Meridian with maturity, accountability, and respect
- Shared spaces, accommodations, and facilities must be treated with care and left in proper condition
- Communication with coaches, chaperones, and hosts should reflect the same level of respect expected at home
- Athletes are expected to remain within defined team environments unless explicitly permitted by coaching staff
There may be limited, structured opportunities for cultural exploration. Participation in these opportunities is a privilege, earned through consistent adherence to team standards.
Safety & Accountability
Athlete safety is our highest priority. Adherence to team structure, communication expectations, and supervision guidelines is required to ensure a secure environment for all participants.
Failure to meet these expectations may result in restricted participation or removal from specific activities, at the discretion of the coaching staff.
Parents/guardians agree to support coaching decisions related to safety, supervision, and team standards during the trip.
Commitment
Participation reflects a commitment to the standards and culture of Meridian Water Polo Club — in training, in competition, and in how we carry ourselves.
